Artissima 2025, Turin ITALY - October 31 > November 2 2025 @ArtissimaFairResponding to the curatorial theme of Artissima 2025, Operating Manual for Spaceship Earth prompting new ideas for the collective stewardship of the planet, Ames Yavuz presents works by Brook Andrew (Australia), Tseng Chien-Ying (Taiwan), Rosemary Laing (Australia) and Alberto Pitta (Brazil) re-examining historic worldviews and traditions. Andrew re-engages in the Australian ethnographic archive to restore agency to indigenous ancestors, Chien-Ying reinterprets contemporary figures through traditional Chinese ink-painting and a mythic symbolic universe, Laing's photographic and installation works are informed by post-colonial perspectives on the occupation and ownership of land, and Pitta tells the multivalent stories of the Africandiaspora, drawing from carnival costumes, Bahian/Afro-Brazilian prints, and Yoruba and Candomblé spirituality symbols.
