Galerie Eva Presenhuber and Thomas Brambilla Gallery, in collaboration with Giorno Poetry Systems, are pleased to present a significant tribute to John Giorno within the Back to the Future section at Artissima 2025 in Turin. Recognized as a pioneering figure at the intersection of poetry, performance, and technology, Giorno played a key role in redefining the relationship between language and contemporary art. His multidisciplinary practice consistently challenged conventional formats, proposing new modes of artistic communication and audience engagement. Central to the presentation is the seminal work Dial-A-Poem (1968-2019), a groundbreaking project that allowed the public to access recordings of poems via telephone. This innovative approach not only expanded the reach of poetic expression but also foreshadowed the rise of interactive media and digital platforms. The exhibition will also feature a Black-and-White painting, highlighting Giorno’s exploration of visual language and the spatial dynamics of text. Additionally, a historic Vinyl painting—one of his earliest text-based works—will be on display.
