Following the second of Sotheby's Modern Masters selling exhibitions, which was devoted to the evolution of modern landscape paintings, this third instalment focuses on depictions of the figure. With works ranging from one of the greatest 17th century portraits by Rembrandt remaining in private hands to a Rembrandt-inspired painting of a musketeer from the 1960s by Pablo Picasso, this exhibition presents some excellent examples of this subject by some of the critical artists in the history of western art.
This selling exhibition is part of Sotheby's Beijing Art Week, a series of comprehensive arts events from 28 November to 1 December, that includes auction, selling exhibitions, overseas highlight exhibitions and an educational programme.
