Stairway to Redemption
Reflecting themes of journey, intersection, pitfall and decision this triptych is composed of cargo pallets. The medium represents worldwide movement and the bearing of loads using the traditional material of wood. Often reused or replaced or exchanged the medium follows a path endured by much of the human race. The red color is symbolic of warning and awareness. The triple stairs of increasing equal height encapsulates the human experience of status quo, change and conquest with attendant solitude. This is a visual demonstration of an uneven path to renewal.
View from Within
Confined to a narrow space this is a single window view of the outside world more often displayed in daylight omitting the arduous hours of night. There is very little light inside but the dimension of the mind glows red with hope and escape. The intermittent glimpses are broken by the daily firmness of ritual or obligation.
Caged Heart
Multiple beams from the beating heart peer through the restriction of body, mind and self. The outside veils the complete inner as if to prevent intrusion, immersion or rejection. Whether captive of love, work or system this common state repeats itself in the multitude.
Doorway to Everywhere
A free standing door connects the past and future to represent moral dualism. Exit and entry of life runs parallel to the clash of malevolence against benevolence. Pause or static reflects a status quo in contention.
Bridge to Nowhere
The only exit is a short stroll to black. No renaissance but a counterpoint to Stairway to Redemption. Come finality after hesitant pause. Transcendence from the now.
The Descent
A ladder down or ascent whirls around this piece that speaks to success, defeat or escape. No hinges, locks or handles for an unsecured future. Mutual gateway to the socially mobile.
