For the inaugural edition of Paris+ par Art Basel, Sadie Coles HQ is pleased to present a group works by gallery artists at Booth B6, including a sculpture by Diego Marcon, who is newly represented by the gallery. Entitled Ludwig, the work depicts the titular protagonist of Marcon’s acclaimed 2018 animated CGI film; sensitively rendered in Carrara marble, the young boy appears seated in a subtle gesture naïve vulnerability redolent of the film’s emotive narrative intimacy and melancholia.
A new work by Alex Da Corte extends his ongoing ‘Cel paintings’ series that depict a panoply of icons drawn from popular twentieth and twenty-first century culture. Da Corte is currently the subject of the major solo exhibition Mr. Remember at the Louisiana Museum of Modern Art, marking the first in depth, career-spanning presentation of his work in Europe. Also on view will be a new painting by Kati Heck, depicting a lush still life scene that exemplifies Heck’s distinctive approach to her media, combining realist technical virtuosity synchronised with enigmatic and absurdist elements.
In addition, the booth will include new canvases by Alvaro Barrington conceived by the artist for his projects contributing to Notting Hill Carnival 2022; as well as a new painting by Georgia Gardner Gray, whose solo exhibition NDE is currently on view at Sadie Coles HQ in London, marking her first solo show in the UK.
Further works by gallery artists will include those by Matthew Barney, Jonathan Lyndon Chase, William N. Copley, Sarah Lucas, Gabriel Kuri, Elizabeth Peyton, Seth Price, Wilhelm Sasnal and Daniel Sinsel.
