Persons Projects warmly invites you to Art Düsseldorf 2022! In our debut, we are excited to present a selection of artists that utilise a diversity of conceptual ideas, spanning from the early 1970s to the present day. Included are experimentations with media and photography from Poland and North America, as well as works from their counterparts from the Nordic region (particularly the Helsinki School).
We are proud to exhibit the paintings of Jakub Julian Ziółkowski for the first time, his abstracted visions of the body produce images that tread the line between the real and supernatural world. In his interview with Art Düsseldorf, Enter Jakub Julian Ziółkowski's Kaleidoscopic World, Ziółkowski discusses how his art serves a function, rather than a medium of communication, and also his spiritual approach to his practice.
Also on show are works from Zofia Kulik and Katarzyna Kozyra, the most prominent Polish artists of their generation. They share an exploratory approach to the medium of photography, with an additional focus on political engagement – both are considered avant-garde for their innovative and bold approach to the medium. Equally as forward, the experimental photographs of Grey Crawford will also be shown, whose analogue manipulation of images was considered ground-breaking in the 70s. From the Helsinki School, we are delighted to present the visionary photographs of Niko Luoma. He has built his career around using the photographic process as a tool for conceptual thinking, using light as a raw material in the dark room.
The newly published books on some of the exhibiting artists will accompany the works.
We will present works by:
