Stand A8
Sean Kelly is delighted to announce its inaugural participation in Frieze Los Angeles 2022. Our presentation at the fair will feature a tightly focused selection of works by the gallery's leading contemporary artists, highlighting the international breadth and depth of the gallery's program.
The booth will feature Idris Khan, whose densely layered works construct narratives that speak to the metaphysical collapse of time into single moments. Khan's work will also be the subject of the inaugural exhibition at our new Los Angeles gallery opening Spring 2022; Antony Gormley, one of the most celebrated artists of his generation, acclaimed for his sculptures, installations and public artworks, which investigate the relationship of the human body to space; Dawoud Bey, recently the subject of a major career retrospective at the Whitney Museum of American Art, SFMOMA and the High Museum of Art, whose work examines African American history and makes the Black past resonate in the contemporary moment; Jose Dávila, whose new sculptures and paintings explore spatial occupation and the transitory nature of physical structures; Callum Innes, who is internationally recognized for his distinctive process of applying paint to the canvas and subsequently "un-painting" it, his work is a continuous exploration of color and the materiality of paint on canvas; Hugo McCloud, whose plastic paintings address the human and economic cost of labor worldwide, geopolitics, and the environmental impact of single use plastic; Landon Metz, who has garnered critical attention for his ability to imbue a language of abstraction with visual dynamism and a sense of movement; Sam Moyer, whose new paintings manipulate found textures and materials into powerful and evocative abstract works that engage both the hand-made and readymade; Shahzia Sikander, recently the subject of a major traveling exhibition at the RISD Museum, who will be represented with a new mosaic and drawings which take classical Indo-Persian miniature painting as the point of departure for her work; Alec Soth, whose newest series, A Pound of Pictures—currently on view at Sean Kelly, New York—further explores a deeper connection between the ephemerality and physicality of photography as a medium; Janaina Tschäpe, recently the subject of a career survey at the Sarasota Art Museum, whose exuberant, dreamlike abstract landscapes blur perceptions of illusion and reality; and Wu Chi-Tsung, who creates cyano-collages that replace the traditional ink and brush used in Chinese shan shui paintings with experimental photography to reinvigorate the traditional landscape language.
We look forward to welcoming friends, clients, and new audiences to our dynamic booth at the fair and to furthering our relationships with curators, collectors, and institutions on the West coast.
