On the occasion of Frieze New York, White Cube presents ‘Paper’, a collection of works exploring the many ways paper has been used in art, not solely as surface but as medium itself.
The artists featured – including Georg Baselitz, Tracey Emin, Al Held, Anselm Kiefer, Julie Mehretu and Danh Vo – have embraced, reinterpreted, challenged or rejected traditional methods of working with this material: drawing, etching, colouring, staining, covering, cutting, tearing, folding, layering, burning or collaging to strikingly different effect.
