Sabrina Amrani is pleased to invite you to the opening of the Madagascar Pavilion in the 58th edition of the International Exhibition at La Biennale di Venezia on 9th May at 11.00 a.m., which will host the exhibition I have forgotten the night by Joël Andrianomearisoa until 24th November 2019.
Joël Andrianomerarisoa has been selected to represent his native country Madagascar, in the first pavilion that the country will have at the Venice Biennale in the history of the event, together with the curators Rina Ralay Ranaivo and Emmanuel Daydé.
About the artist
Joël Andrianomearisoa was born in Antananarivo (Madagascar) in 1977. He lives and works between Antananarivo and Paris.
Andrianomearisoa's most recent solo shows include No Habíamos terminado de hablar sobre el amor at Centro de Arte Alcobendas (Spain), Le Pli at Fundaçao Leal Rios (Portugal), Le Vent Souffle Sur Votre Coeur at Château d'Assier (France); Sur un horizon infini se joue le théâtre de nos affections at Fondation Zinsou & Musée Ouidah (Benin); La Bibliothèque Sentimentale at Les abattoirs - FRAC Midi-Pyrénées in Toulouse (France); Va et Vient at La Naïade Péniche VNF, in Canal du Midi, Toulouse - Béziers – Toulouse (France); Le la tour du monde taking over the cupola at Galerie des Galeries Haussmann in Paris (France); A l'horizon de mes jours troubles at the shop windows of Galleries Lafayette in Toulouse (France); The labyrinth of passions, at Mykolas Žilinskas Art Museum in Kaunas (Lithuania) and the Dak'Art. Andrianomearisoa's recent group shows include African Metropolis an Imaginary City at MAXXI (Italy), Hello World at Hamburger Bahnhof Museum (Germany), A Beast, A God, A Line at MoMA Warsaw, Parasite Hong Kong, TS1 Yangon and Dhaka Art Summit, Autour du nouveau réalisme - Les Dadas des Daniel curated by Annabelle Tenenze at Les abattoirs - FRAC Midi-Pyrénées in Toulouse (France); Afriques Capitales at La Villette, Paris (France); Vers le cap de bonne esperance at Gare Saint Sauveur in Lille (France); 100% Afriques at La Villette (France) and Essentiel paysage at Al Madeen Art Gallery in Marrakech (Morocco), among others.
Andrianomearisoa's work has been recently acquired by the Zeitz MOCAA (South Africa) and Les Abattoirs (France). His work is part of other public collections like the National Museum of African Art - Smithsonian Institution (USA), Studio Museum Harlem (USA), Sindika Dokolo Fondation (Angola) and the Fond Régional d'Art Contemporain - Frac La Réunion (France), among others. He was awarded with the IV Audemars Piguet ARCOmadrid Prize in 2016.
