We are pleased to invite you to the jubilee edition of Art Rotterdam, the most important fair for contemporary art in the Netherlands, which takes place from 6 to 10 February at the Van Nelle factory in Rotterdam. This year we will show new sculptures and video work by Eelco Brand, show the most recent works by Teun Hocks and also introduce a Chinese artist named Yibai Liao.
Teun Hocks plays with reality. He uses self-painted decors and homemade 'props'. Although both appeal to reality, they retain their artificiality. The use of photography (and film) reinforces the realism that is then nuanced with a refined coloration. A selection of his most recent work will be on display at Art Rotterdam.
At Art Rotterdam Eelco Brand shows a new 4K animation on a large sized screen. Small animated plants and interlocking stems are mutually moving in a sequence. Brand uses 3D modeling and digital animation techniques to suggest natural scenes.
Yibai Liao, Chinese artist, is best known for his stainless steel sculptures. In his work he examines the cultural exchange that took place between the West and China, shortly after the death of the communist leader Mao Zedong.
